Red carpet rolled out for ‘Oscars’ night at Spalding primary school

Pupils at Spalding’s Monkshouse Primary School held a red carpet event to premiere their very own short film.

Year Four pupils worked with specialist firm Enrich for a number of weeks to create the film and did all their own camera and sound work, learned about editing and special effects, wrote scripts and acted.

Headteacher Sue Goodsell said: “We decided to invest in bringing Enrich into school because it gave pupils an opportunity to work with equipment such as professional cameras and sound booms that we could never afford to buy. It also gave pupils access to a team of people who were highly skilled in the use of that equipment.

“The children really embraced the opportunity and the film they produced was amazing. Many of them said taking part in the project was the best experience they have had in school.”

Parents and pupils attended the premiere evening in ‘black tie’.
Children nominated each other to receive Oscar-style awards in a raft of categories.
