Record-breaking festive business

Springfields Outlet and Leisure saw a record-breaking Christmas with rising sales and visitor numbers.

The Spalding centre’s Firework and Light Show started a bumper period for the venue with more than 36,000 people visiting the popular Winter Wonderland Walk.

There has also been double-digit growth in sales since the centre re-opened after the first lockdown in April last year.

“Springfields is an ongoing success story and we are looking forward to even more growth in 2022 as we get ready to open phase 3,” said Ian Sanderson, director of Spiringfields Outlet Leisure.

It continues to buck the national trend with ‘the vast majority of brands’ seeing trading growth over 2019, which was itself a record year. Figures from 2020 are not included due to Covid trading restrictions at the time.

The complex, which opened in 2004, has 25 acres of gardens alongside retail, food and beverage businesses.

It has seen four new lettings since the lockdown, including Dune and Eden.

Phase three of the centre on the outskirts of town will see 15 new stores, four restaurant or cafe units and 236 additional parking spaces.

The new development will be adjacent to the Radley outlet store and the Travelodge hotel.
