Recognition for parade organiser

The man who played a huge part in bringing the Spalding Flower Parade back has been given two awards by the BBC.
Steve Timewell was named Fundraiser of the Year and picked up the Community Award at BBC Lincolnshire’s Make A Difference Awards.
Steve said: “It was enough to be recognised and nominated for an award and I was delighted when presented the first one.
“When it was announced that I was to receive another award I was genuinely speechless. I did not expect that.
“The Community Award really belongs to the hundreds of volunteers that had faith in me and supported me over two years to make the parade what it is today.”
Steve last week moved away from the area to be closer to his mum in Dorset.
“We may be leaving Spalding, but that does not mean I am walking away from the Flower Parade or my home town,” he said. “I will still be playing a role in the parade, along with a first class team of organisers.
“I will also be keeping a close watch on local issues and making sure that the town improves.”
