Rachel has the key to £10,000 MG car prize

VNG300814-34As days go, today promises to be a pretty good one for Rachel Smith.

Not only is she starting a new teaching assistant job at Weston St Mary’s Primary School, but she’s picking up a £10,000 car which she won at Springfields Outlet Shopping last Saturday.

The prize, supplied by Whaplode Drove firm WH Brand, was the culmination of a promotion to mark the tenth anniversary of the outlet.

The ten weekly winners were at Springfields last weekend and given a key to try and unlock the car. And when the first eight contestants had no luck, it came down to a 50/50 chance for Rachel.

She said: “I was second to last to try my key. It sounds terrible but I still wasn’t expecting it to be me that won. I actually said to the man who was to follow me that I was sure he was going to get it.

“I’m still in shock.”

Husband Paul and their children Brook (17) and Reece (13) were there to see the lucky turn of the key.

The eye-catching yellow MG3 Form Sport will now sit alongside Rachel’s runaround – a small Rover 25 – on their Spalding drive.

To be in with a chance of winning, Springfields shoppers had to register a spend of £10 or more on its website. More than 2,000 people did so.

Rachel also received a spa day for two at Ragdale Hall prize as the week seven winner.

Other prizes came from local businesses including Welec, Rooke’s, Bookmark and Fenland Carpets.

Springfields communications manager Tracy Thomas said: “Rachel was totally shocked and genuinely stunned at her win. I think it will take a few days to really sink in.

“We’d like to extend a massive thank you to all our sponsors, especially Adam from WH Brand.

“It’s been great to work alongside local businesses.

“We had a fantastic response to the competition and were delighted that the winners’ event went so well on Saturday.”
