Quartet battling for second behind ace Kilby at Tydd Gote Angling Club

The battle for the runners-up spot in the Tydd Gote Angling Club winter league is really heating up.

With just five matches to go, it’s all to fish for with Pete Emery on 100 points, Dave Simmonds on 98, Steve Borrett sitting on 83 and Archie Greenwood just behind on 78.

But way out in front with a massive 147 points is the champion elect Andrew Kilby, who consolidated his position with another impressive win in the Sunday Club match at Main Road.

He took a level 9lb of roach and rudd at 11m from end peg.

Darren Williams continued his fine run of form with 5lb for second spot.

Catching on pinkie over ground bait, he just edged out Dave Simmonds on 4lb 14oz who, after a fast start, was hampered by the ice starting to re-freeze in his peg.

At the Wednesday Open at Main Road, Archie Greenwood dominated the field with 10lb 10oz of pinkie caught roach to take the win.

John Taylor claimed second on 7lb 14oz and Sammy McSpadden was third with 7lb 4oz.
