Jubilant Pyramid B held their nerve to secure the Spalding and District Snooker League Division One title on the final night of the season.
The Bourne side had a tough final match against Tulips B, but held firm to prevail 4-2 and clinch the league’s top prize.
Pyramid’s Spencer Dawkins (O49) lost a tight opener with Joe Garland (scr) 72-68, but Jason Green (O56) and Alfonso Palumbo (O42) hit back in the next two frame to put the hosts ahead.
Tulips’ Darren Woodberry (O35) – who made a 29 break – took it to a decider with an impressive 82-33 win over Keith Duly (O14), but Dave Pearson (O14) delivered in the final frame to kick-start the Pyramid title party.
They finish with 22 wins from 32 games and with a four-point cushion over nearest rivals Holbeach A.
The runners-up kept them honest with a 5-1 triumph over club rivals Holbeach D.
Mick Ayres (O14), Mick Pearl (O14), Bobby White (O14) and Mark Hubbard (O14) delivered the goods to make it back-to-back second places for the Holbeach club (A side runners-up last year).
Donington C complete the top three after a 4-2 victory over Services A, in a game where three of the five frames went to the final black. Neil Reynolds (O49) made a 21 break for the victors, who sealed their 20th win of the season thanks to Graham Slater’s (R7) final frame success. They finish on 103 points.
At the foot, Long Sutton D join Consti B in being relegated after suffering a 5-1 defeat to club mates Long Sutton B.
Elsewhere in the top tier, Steve Oakes (O14) made an impressive 41 break as Boundary B won 4-2 at Services E – for whom Chris Dunmore (O21) trousered a cool 33 break.
In Division Two, Consti F got the points they needed to be confirmed as champions – despite a 4-2 loss at Consti G.
Robert Adams (O14) was their star man with breaks of 44 and 24 en route to a frame win, while Bryan Turnell (R14) was their other victor.
Although the champions stumbled somewhat over the line, they are very worthy winners having delivered 20 victories from 30 matches.
That meant Whittlesey A had to settle for second place and promotion. They were 4-2 winners at Services C and finish two points off the pace.
Gary Thewliss (scr) and Malc Bruce (R14) won the final two frames to seal a 19th win of the season.
Bourne SC A were forced into third place by an agonising one point having also won 4-2. They triumphed over town rivals Pyramid C, with Ian Clare (O7) starring with a 24 break.
Break of the night in the second tier came from James Sharpe (O42), who pocketed a 48 for Pyramid D in a 4-2 triumph at Gosberton B.
Everything was already decided in Division Three, but that didn’t stop the top two adding to their incredible points tallies.
Champions Holbeach B finish on a whopping 130 points after they defeated Consti C 4-2. Neil Harvey (O7) made a super 32 break in the final frame to secure a 25th win of the campaign.
Runners-up Gosberton A signed off by handing friendly foes Gosberton D a 5-1 reverse to seal a 24th win of the year and a 122-point haul.
Consti J took third having dispatched Sutton C 5-1. Their wins came from Les Andrew (scr), Trev Braybrook (scr), Nick Keeble (O14) and Stuart Davies (O21).
Fourth spot went to Donington B, who closed with a 4-2 home beating at the hands of Consti A. Paul Kent (R21) was the match-winner for Consti in the final frame.
Not to be outdone, Consti E were the fifth Division Three team to amass 100 points after thrashing Consti D 6-0.
