Pyramid A are new billiards champions

With one week to play in the Spalding and District Billiards League, Pyramid A have taken the title.

They beat Bourne SC 5-2 on Monday night in a victory that has meant they are unbeatable in the league.
John Clapton (r100), John Twell (r70) and Reegan Cooke-Holmes (r80) have only lost four matches all season.
Second place could go the way of any of three teams – Holbeach B, Holbeach A and Bourne SC – who are currently second, third and fourth in the table.
Holbeach B don’t have a match next week, which means they finish the season on 64 points, after beating lowly Consti A 5-2 on Monday night.
Their winners were Denis Hix (r60) and Andy Spearman (r80), while Stewart Davies (r50) got the points for Consti.
Consti look likely to finish bottom of the table, having won just two games all season.
Third placed Holbeach A got the better of Consti B, beating them 5-2.
Ben Harding (r10) got Holbeach off to a winning start, before Jason Rose (scr) hit back for Consti.
In the final frame of the night, Neil Burton (r50) took on Phil Coaten (r90) with Coaten emerging the victor 200-110.
Mick Johnson (o120) racked up breaks of 54, 34, 33, 28 and 23 in his match, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win.
Donington got their revenge on Pyramid B who beat them 7-0 earlier in the season, by reversing the scoreline.
Neil Reynolds (o20), Jim Thompson (r60) and Ben Wrigglesworth (r10) were the winning trio.
Breaks in that match came from Reynolds (31, 25, 24), Thompson (23), Wrigglesworth (21) and Pyramid’s Maurice Phillipson (r70), who got a 24.
Results: Donington 7 Pyramid B 0, Holbeach B 5 Consti A 2, Pyramid A 5 Bourne SC 2, Consti B 2 Holbeach A 5, Gosberton – free week, Gosberton 2 Bourne SC 5 (rearranged game)
