It was a busy end to the school year for Spalding Lions when they visited the town’s Garth and Priory schools.

Lions Eileen Robson and Denise Walker went along to the schools to present two very surprised students with the Spalding Lions’ Walk Tall Award.

This award is given in recognition of working in circumstances that require “true grit” – there is no connection to academic excellence.

Spalding Lions write to the schools asking if there is any student that they wish to nominate for the award.

The student receives a certificate and a W H Smith gift voucher.

Whilst at the Garth School, Lions Eileen and Denise were able to present Joanne Doughty with a cheque for £200.

This money was given to help the school with the work that they are doing to develop a new sensory garden and making pathways bigger and the whole outside space better for the school.

The school is having a working day in their gardens on Saturday, when anyone with a hour or two to spare would be very welcome to join members of staff.

Anyone interested in lending a hand is asked to go along between 9am and 3pm.
