Punshon and Meir are captain’s best

Neil John’s Captain’s Day at Tydd St Giles saw 100 golfers taking part in an individual stableford competition.

Good weather allowed a great competition with more than £3,000 raised for the captain’s charities
John thanked his sponsors Andrew Hicks, BP Auto Repairs, Fraser Dawbarns, Jason Boast and AF Golf of Peterborough, Vince Day and Martin Bowman.
He also thanked all who had donated generous raffle prizes and taken part in a great day of golf.
The competition was won by Dave Punshon with 41 points, two ahead of Chris Simmonds with James Neve taking third place on countback with 37 points.
The ladies winner was Petra Meir, with 36 points, and nearest the pin on the fourth hole was Daniel Newell.
Michael Woodhouse was nearest the pin on the eighth hole, Graham Ralph on the 11th, Liam Chapman on the 16th and Bradley Martin in two on the 18th .

Round one: 1 Paul Gurney 86-20=66, 2 Toby North 89-20=69, 3 Peter Williams 84-15=69.
Overall net winner: Paul Gurney 86-20=66.
Overall gross winner: Paul Chaplain-Barton 81-7=74.
