Pumpkin Parade may have been best yet

This year’s Spalding Pumpkin Festival has been hailed as a great success and may have attracted a record attendance.

Thousands of adults and children packed into the town centre to enjoy an enchanting celebration of all things pumpkin on Friday.

Although final figures are not yet known, it is thought that the event may have drawn more visitors than ever before.

Crowds were treated to a day of entertainment including live music, charity market, craft workshops, cooking demonstrations and competitions.

The festival was rounded off with a spectacular fireworks display from the top of the South Holland Centre.

Nick Worth, South Holland District Council portfolio holder for community, said: “This year’s Spalding Pumpkin Festival was definitely one of the best.

“The event attracted large crowds to the town centre who enjoyed a fun-filled day of harvest-themed entertainment.

“We have already had lots of positive feedback from people who attended from all over the district and further afield.

“We would like to thank everyone who came along as well as those who helped organise, sponsor and run the event.”

The festivities were organised by South Holland District Council, sponsored by Spalding firm David Bowman Pumpkins Ltd and supported by the Spalding and Welland Rotary Club and Spalding Lions.
