Pumpkin fun attracts the crowds

Spalding’s Pumpkin Festival has been hailed a success with a great turnout.

The event, which took place on a Saturday this year rather than the traditional Friday evening, saw hundreds of people attend, enjoying the attractions organised by South Holland District Council’s Communities Team.

Coun Gary Taylor, portfolio holder for communities and facilities, said: “It went very well.

“It was very enjoyable and there was a great atmosphere.

“My role on the day was to judge the window competition, which was won by Hughes Electrical, who were delighted.

“It was different to previous years, trialling a Saturday, and the good weather definitely helped, but it seemed very well received.

“There was a family-friendly atmosphere which was lovely.”

It’s yet to be decided whether the event will return to its usual Friday night slot in the future, or whether it will be on a Saturday.

Coun Taylor added: “Personally I hope it stays on a Saturday, it seemed to work very well.”
