Gosberton race ace Abbi Pulling is in the running for a prestigious prize that could open the door to a glittering motor sport career.
The F1 Academy driver is one of 10 drivers nominated for the Aston Martin Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award and, if successful, will win £200,000 and a Formula 1 test drive with the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant F1 team.
She is the only female nominee and is up against Taylor Barnard, James Hedley, Arvid Lindblad, Joseph Loake, William Macintyre, Tom Mills, Matthew Rees, Louis Sharp and Callum Voisin.
The Rodin Carlin team driver said: “I’m honoured to be one of the 10 nominees for the 2023 Aston Martin BRDC young driver of the year award.”
The award, which started in 1989, aims to find and assist the best junior British racing drivers. The final four will be announced in the coming weeks and after testing on the Silverstone GP track in MotorSport Vision Formula 2, GT3 and LMP3 machinery, the winner will be announced at the Autosport Awards on December 3.
Pulling, 20, is a member of the Alpine Academy programme and is currently competing in the all-female F1 Academy series.
Of 18 starts in the series, the No.10 car driver has finished second three times, third three times and fourth four times, earning her fifth place in the table with 143 points. She also has two pole positions and three fastest laps to her name.
The final three of the 21 rounds take place at the Circuit of the Americas in Houston, Texas on October 21 and 22, as support races for the US Grand Prix.
Former Rodin Carlin team drivers include all three current F1 drivers – George Russell, Lando Norris and Sir Lewis Hamilton.
