Abbi Pulling had two podiums and a pole at Monza last weekend in the F1 Academy, but the wait for a first win goes on.
After being second quickest in both free practice sessions, the Rodin Carlin driver finished third in first qualifying after being frustrated by traffic before topping the time sheets herself in qualifying two.
The Gosberton race ace was battling with Championship leader Marta Garcia and Lenah Buhler for the lead throughout race one.
Pulling had a topsy turvy battle with Buhler overtaking her at one point only to be reeled back in.
Garcia took the win from Buhler by just 0.009secs with Pulling half a second behind, but she was pipped to the podium by just 0.16secs by a late dart from teammate Jo Edgar.
Pulling was a part of a four-way fight for race two alongside eventual winner Buhler, Bianca Bustamante and Carrie Schreiner.
Only slightly more than a second separated all three but Pulling beat Schreiner to the final podium place as Buhler took the win.
After her qualifying exploits, Pulling was on pole for race three and after a good start she opened up a gap to the rest of the field.
However Bustamante reeled her in on the way to the victory, overtaking the local racer around the Ascari Chicane.
H Al Qubaisi showed her car’s pace on the straight to leave Pulling in third but the Qatari driver rammed into the back of the leader ending her race while Bustamante’s car was fine to continue, opening up a sizeable lead.
However Pulling’s teammate Megan Gilkes spun off, necessitating a safety car and bunching the cars back up.
It gave Pulling what looked to be three laps to get a first race win in the series.
The front two moved away from the rest but Pulling was unable to get a move in before another safety car ended the race.
Pulling is fourth in the standings on 121 points, 9 points behind leader Garcia.
There’s testing at the Paul Ricard circuit in France next week before the next round is held there on July 29 and 30.
