Prior wins 12 titles

Andy Prior will have needed a battleship to collect his trophies at the Welland Yacht Club’s annual awards event.

Commodore Sarah Prior presented the awards, with 15 club members picking up silverware. However it was Andy Prior who claimed the bulk, winning a total of 12 – the Gooch Trophy for club champion, the Frostbite Series (WYC Salver), Sunday Points Trophy, Tulip Regatta, Masters Trophy, PBS Salver, Welland Paddle, Robert Creek Shield, Flag Officers Cup, Herbert Ingram and Adventurers Trophy plus a share of the Carl Bilbie Pursuit Trophy with Harry Jackson, who won the Maclaren Crew Trophy and U-10s Trophy.
Alan Chapman emerged triumphant in the Ditch Crawler, Herd Salver and Ann Smith Perseverance Trophy with Mark Scourfield also picking up three titles – Commodore’s Points, Sunday Morning Points and Autumn Points Graduate Challenge Cup. Helen Boyd also picked up a hat-trick of honours, with the Ralph Gibson Trophy, Most Improved Helm and Chris Mew award. Double triumphs were enjoyed by Alan Cox (Lowland Novelty Race Trophy and Munson Cup), and Andy Agar (Tulip Regatta Second and Personal Handicap Series).
