Primary school reacts after COVID-19 case confirmation

A number of children are being taught at home after a confirmed case of COVID-19 was identified at a Spalding primary school.

St John the Baptist School in Hawthorn Bank say a ‘member of the school community’ tested positive for the virus.

It’s now said how many children are working from home this week following Friday’s positive test.

Headteacher Paul Reid, said: “On Friday the school became aware that a member of the school community had received a positive Covid-19 test result.

“The school informed Public Health England and we traced all close contacts.

“The school’s bubble system means that only a very limited number of the school community (including one class of children) is affected by this and these people have been asked to isolate by Public Health England.

“Those children who are absent from school have a timetable of lessons at home, led by their class teacher via TEAMS.”
