Pride of South Holland nominee’s strong wool power

The Pride of South Holland Awards 2018 are now in full swing and Janet Pell from Weston Hills is among the first nominations arriving at The Voice and Tulip Events.

Her nominator said: “Janet holds a women’s knitting group called Sew & Sew.

“She provides the wool gets the people together, providing refreshments while they knit for charity.

“The group knits for premature babies Janet has knitted hundreds of little hats for Milton Keynes hospital and a hospital in Buckinghamshire, as well as Pilgrim Hospital in Boston.

“She raised over £2,200 by opening her garden up. She had stalls all over her house for people to buy bric-a-brac, cakes, jewellery and knitted garments.

“The money went to the chemotherapy suite at Pilgrim Hospital.

“She gives to the local church hall events every time, providing tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits for their coffee mornings and fetes.

“She also collects for Help For Heroes.

“Janet knits all day, making jumpers, scarves and anything people ask her to do.

“She sells them and the money goes to whichever charity she is knitting for at that time.

“Janet says knitting and making things gives her a sense of purpose makes her happy to be doing things and raising money for others. She is so selfless and worth her weight in gold.”
