Praise for South Holland smoke free sign design entrants

The winners in a competition to design smoke free signs have received iPad prizes.

The competition was run between South Holland District Council and The Voice, which highlighted the passive smoking health concerns of nurse and Spalding dad Mark Le Sage.

More than 160 entries were received and the signs will go up soon at schools, nurseries and play areas.

Coun Malcolm Chandler, council portfolio holder for environmental health, said: “A great deal of thought and attention went into all the entries and although there could only be four winners everyone who entered deserves recognition.
“I am sure the initiative will make an important contribution to the overall health and wellbeing of young people in our communities.

“I should like to thank The Voice particularly for their support and encouragement of their readers following the article by Mr Le Sage when he highlighted the issues of secondhand smoke.

“I now look forward to seeing the signs appear throughout the district.”
