Poundland says it will be creating 24 new jobs when it open its new Spalding store a week on Saturday.
It’s taking over the store at the Spalding Retail Park which previously housed B&M.
It’s due to open at 9am on Saturday September 4 and the company says it will be celebrating as it will become the 400th store across the UK and Ireland to have a PEP&CO clothing shop-in-shop.
A company spokesman, said: “The new store, at Spalding Retail Park, Winsover Road, will bring shoppers more choice and create jobs in the area.
“It will employ 24 colleagues, including eight temporary members of staff, and, at around 8,000 square feet, the former B&M store will offer shoppers a wide range of items at the amazing value only Poundland can deliver.
“Customers in Spalding will enjoy the benefits of the remarkable rollout of PEP&CO which has become one of the top 20 clothing retailers in the UK, just six years after the clothing brand was born.
“And Spalding joins the growing number of Poundland stores – now standing at more than 200 – to offer chilled and frozen food as part of project Diamond Ice.
“The chiller and freezer cabinets will stock a wide range of meals and snacks including ready-meals, pizzas, pies, frozen desserts and ice-cream, as well as barbecue foods for the summer.
“While the store will still offer the everyday essentials, groceries, drinks and snacks shoppers love, they will also be able to see revamped health and beauty, entertainment, stationery and craft ranges.
“From clothing to frozen food, Poundland is transforming its stores, bringing more of what customers want to buy all under one roof.
New larger stores like the one in Spalding bring the widest ranges of customer favourites to shoppers.
Poundland commercial director, Tim Bettley, said: “It’s great to reach the milestone of 400 PEP&CO shop-in-shops as we have steadily grown to be one of the UK’s biggest and most popular clothing retailers.
“What better way to do it than opening the new store in Spalding which will showcase the best of what Poundland has to offer.”
