CALM: Graham Drury isn’t worried by Holbeach’s loss at Gainsborough.

Co-boss Graham Drury insists that Holbeach can take plenty of positives from Tuesday night’s 5-0 friendly humbling at Gainsborough Trinity.

Paul Beasley, Conor Higginson and Darryn Stamp all notched for hosts Trinity in the first half, before Higginson and Grant Roberts completed the rout in the second half.

New signing Lee Beeson (see story left) and fellow fresh recruit Jake Gibson were handed starts for the Tigers, while new boys Lee Dube and Courtney Meade also came off the bench for debuts in the second period.

Having tasted defeat for the first time in charge of Holbeach, Drury was in a philosophical mood.

He said: “It sounds ridiculous, but you learn more from a 5-0 loss than you do in a 4-0 win against Louth Town.

“I thought the scoreline was harsh. We gifted them the first two goals, but all credit to them, they punished us.

“I thought we had some stand-out performances from Beeson and Gibson, while Ashley Fuller was very lively. It was a bit of a reality check for some of them, but in a funny way that can be a good thing.”

Holbeach host Grantham Town on Saturday (3pm) and Lincoln Moorlands on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Tigers: Roberts, Allen, Jackson, Pinner, Spencer, Stevens, Beeson, Duffy, Gibson, King, Fuller. Subs (all used): Warfield, Delahoy, Steadman, Dube, Meade.
