Young people in South Holland are being encouraged to get involved with free sports sessions being put on in the district.
Positive Futures is a county wide initiative led by Lincolnshire County Council with sessions being put on for a host of sports including darts, snooker, football and dance as well as ones for multi-sports.
All sessions are inclusive and available to those within the specified age groups.
The programmes restarted in September with the dance sessions proving particularly, popular, the county council say.
They take place on Wednesdays, for those aged eight to 12 from 4.30pm to 5.30pm at Diamondz School of Dance and for 13 to 18-year-olds at Bromley Memorial Hall both on the Bourne Road in Pode Hole.
Emma Morley, Positive Futures community sport worker, said: “Both the junior and senior dance sessions continue to grow, with participants working towards their performance at our annual Positive Futures Dance show in February 2026.
“As part of our senior offer, young people will have the opportunity to work towards an ASDAN qualification in choreography supporting those interested in pursuing dance as a future career.”
Those after a more relaxed evening can join the free sessions for darts and snooker at Spalding’s Constitutional Club on Tuesday evenings.
Darts runs from 5pm to 6pm and snooker 6pm to 7pm.
“These sessions cater for all skill levels, from complete beginner to seasoned players meaning there is something for everyone,” the spokesman continued. “Participants will also have the opportunity to play in matches against other Positive Futures areas.”
Positive Futures Lincolnshire is also working in partnership with the Tonic Health, Holbeach Hub to deliver a youth club on Friday nights in the town.
A team of footballers from the multi-sport sessions were recently selected to represent South Holland at the annual Fair Play and Street Games festival.
Emma said: “Whether you’re looking to get active, learn new skills, or simply have fun, Positive Futures has something for everyone.”
