Talented art and design student Megan Vellam has had one of her portraits framed by South Holland and The Deepings MP John Hayes and hung on the wall in his cabinet office in Westminster.

As part of her course, Megan, of Spalding, was asked to draw portraiture and in the midst of the election season and, after meeting him for herself, Megan decided to draw John.

Megan, who is a student at New College Stamford, said: “I wanted to draw a picture of someone who was well respected and not just a celebrity.

“John Hayes is friendly and always has time for people in his constituency so I chose him”.

John invited Megan to visit his Spalding office and when she presented him with the drawing John fell in love with it and asked to keep the original copy so he could frame it in his office.

John later asked Megan to meet him in Westminster where he gave her a tour of the Houses of Parliament and she was able to see her work exhibited on the wall of his office.
