Police say Holbeach shop was selling illegal vapes to children

A quantity of illegal vapes being sold to children were seized from a store in Holbeach.

Holbeach Market on Market Street had a hidden stash behind the counter, Lincolnshire Police say.

The force now works with Trading Standards on cracking down on the sale of illegal vapes and cigarettes. Five shops were closed in Spalding for that last week.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police said: “A plain-clothed police officer was patrolling the High Street on Friday February 15 when he spotted a group of children walking out of Holbeach Market holding what looked to be illegal vapes.

“He entered the store and discovered a hide behind the counter containing a quantity of illegal vapes.

“The investigation has since been passed to Trading Standards as the agency with primacy to deal with illegal trading in the county.

“If you have any information about shops selling illegal vapes or cigarettes, or selling vapes to children, please report this to Trading Standards through the Citizens Advice consumer service.”
