Police arrest one after retail raids

Over two days of action, South Holland Police checked retail businesses with colleagues from other agencies.

They were checking licensing compliance, weights and measures, immigration compliance, working conditions and the selling of illegal vapes and cigarettes.
Officers arrested a person for immigration offences at a Spalding takeaway on November 7. Police said the matter will be followed-up by immigration enforcement.
Vodka was seized from a shop in Long Sutton on November 14. It was suspected to have been smuggled into the country and it is being tested.
A quantity of medication was seized from a Holbeach shop which does not comply with legislation for the retail of medical products.
A referral was also made in respect of fire regulations following a visit to a takeaway in Crowland.
A large quantity of illegal vapes and illicit cigarettes were located at another shop in Holbeach.
They had been expertly concealed, said police, in purpose-made hiding places within the store. The items have been retained by trading standards.
lThe Chief Constable of Lincolnshire Police, Chris Haward has announced he will be leaving the force in February. He will be taking up a role with the National Police Chief’s Council as the UK coordinator tackling serious and organised crime.
“I did not expect to be leaving Lincolnshire at this point, but an unexpected opportunity has arisen,” he said in a statement.
