Police urge for vigilance and help after spate of burglaries in Spalding and Sutton St James

Police are appealing for witnesses following a spate of burglaries in Spalding.

  • Over the weekend a burglary occurred in Clay Lake, Spalding. A hi-fi system and a table lamp were stolen. (Incident 207, November 24).
  • In the early hours of Monday morning a burglary occurred in Alexandra Road, Spalding. Cash and a phone were stolen. (Incident 138, November 23).
  • On Monday evening (November 24), a burglary occurred in Commercial Road, Spalding, where someone has entered via an insecure door and stolen a handbag. (Incident 458, November 24).
  • On Monday night two men were disturbed breaking in to a caravan in Pinchbeck Road, Spalding.  Nothing was stolen. (Incident 85, November 25)
  • At about 5:20am on Tuesday, November 25, a man was disturbed attempting to break in to a premises on Cowbit Road, Spalding.  Nothing was stolen. (Incident 91, November 25)

Community Policing Inspector Jim Tyner said: “These incidents form part of a series of crimes in Spalding.

” Operation Bonus is in place to tackle these.  I have officers patrolling every night looking for burglars.  It’s vitally important people call us at the time if they see something suspicious.”

Meanwhile, there were also burglaries in Sutton St James over the weekend.

  • Between 8pm on Saturday and 1.25am on Sunday there was a burglary at a farm at White Cross, Sutton St James (Incident 42, November 23).
  • At about 11pm on Friday two men were disturbed breaking in to a garage at a property in Chapelgate, Sutton St James (Incident 498, November 21).

Inspector Tyner said: “These are not linked to the burglaries in Spalding and it’s much more likely that the offenders had access to a vehicle.  If you saw anything suspicious over the weekend, please give us a call.”
