Plenty of hope in gifted boxes

Holbeach charity Boxes Of Hope has thanked the community for the amazing donations of Christmas presents it has received for some of the young people it helps.

They included 35 donated by Dempsey Taekwon-do based in Whaplode which gave its students aged seven to 12, £5 each to buy a present for someone else.

Mandy Baxter, of Boxes of Hope, said: “We are so incredibly grateful for the wonderful Christmas present donations that have been gifted to children in need.

“We have some wonderful shout-outs coming over the weekend and next week, as we say a huge thank you to the organisations that have helped and supported this incredible effort.

“A massive thank you as well to our amazing volunteers who have given their time to help with gift wrapping, we couldn’t do this without you.”

Boxes of Hope were also left delighted after an anonymous donor booked 40 tickets for the pantomime at the South Holland Centre for the families it helps.

“For many of these children, this was their first ever trip to the theatre,” said Mandy. “It was a magical experience they may never have had the chance to enjoy.”
