Play-off hopes are over for Tigers

Holbeach United’s hopes of finishing in the Thurlow Nunn Division One North play-offs are over.

The Tigers knew they effectively had to win at Diss Town on Saturday.
They were missing several key players for the game and despite creating several chances they were unable to find the breakthrough.
Then they were undone on the counter by a late Charlie Webb goal to give Diss a 1-0 win.
The team in the last play off position, Cornard United, won 2-1 at fellow play-chasing Harwich and Parkeston on Saturday and then also won their game in hand on Tuesday night, a 1-0 victory at Swaffham Town.
It put them eight points ahead of Holbeach with two games to play.
Tigers manager Danny Clifton said of the Diss defeat: “It was a hard working performance, but unfortunately it wasn’t to be.
“I can’t fault the effort from the players.
“It has been superb over the season and the improvement has been there for all to see.
“With two games to go we’ll look to get as many points as possible for the season’s total.
“It’s on to our last home game next week.”
That’s against Whitton Albion on Saturday.
