Plans for 100 new homes in town

Plans for 100 new homes in Holbeach have been submitted to South Holland District Council.

Ashwood Homes has applied for the properties to be built on land off Fen Road and Tudor Way.

Half of the 100 dwellings will be two-bedroom houses with 46 three-bedroom and four with one bedroom.

According to a design and access statement submitted with the application, access will be via Holbeach Meadows with a secondary point via Tudor Way.

“All of the new dwellings are proposed to be Affordable Homes to contribute to local affordable rented and shared ownership housing needs,” says the document.

“The building forms will create a strong theme throughout the development with the use of a limited materials palette to create a coherent street scene and sense of place.

“The proposed materials will complement the dwellings on the adjacent development,” it adds.

Contributions totalling just under £1m have been requested for education and health services.

The figure of £660,000 has been put forward to pay for additional GP and healthcare needs.

A further £357,000 will go towards schooling in the area to accommodate new pupils.

The planned homes are designed to create perimeter block formation to help define public and private space.

All the dwelling are two-storey and there will be provision of open space within the site.

Objectives put forward by the application are “to create an attractive, sustainable development and community that enhances this area of Holbeach.”

The proposal, for a site just under eight acres, will be decided by the district council.

Anglian Water has, according to documents, asked to speak with the developer about dealing with a potential flooding risk downstream from the site.
