An Ollie Pinner double fired Pinchbeck United Sunday into the last 16 of the Lincs FA Sunday Cup over the weekend as they picked up a 4-2 victory at Blues Club over-35s.
Matt Warfield and Dan Woods were also on target for Tom Roberts’ side in Gainsborough, as they booked a home tie against Grimsby-based Crows Nest on January 4.
Pinchbeck are bidding to become the first team from the Spalding Sunday League to lift the county crown – and they are now very much among the favourites.
A satisfied Roberts said: “It was a professional away performance and we got the job done.”
Back in the league, a double from Wayne Ashby fired Murrow Bell to a 2-1 triumph over Brennans Sports.
Scott Burrell hit back for Brennans, who would have gone third with a win.
Punchbowl Tigers remain bottom and pointless after going down 3-2 at home to Mulberry.
Adrian Mitchell (2) and Stephen Mitchell netted for Mulberry, with Dan Walker and Ricky Stevens replying for the Tigers.
Sutton Bridge Sunday were the big winners of the day as they hammered hosts Spalding Seas End Wanderers 9-1 in the Knockout Cup.
Sub Matthew Eaton led the charge with a hat-trick, while Sam Cooper and Ben Partridge both hit doubles.
Bradley Fox and Jake Lally completed the Bridge scoring, with James Cullimore grabbing the consolation for Wanderers.
Elsewhere, Jack Wycherley struck for Jubilee in their KO Cup clash with Swineshead Institute Sunday – but his side went down 3-1 at Monkshouse Lane Playing Field.
- Relentless King’s Lynn Sunday League Division Two leaders Sutton St James made it seven wins from as many games as they crushed Tilney Green Lions 6-2.
Ash Godfrey (2), Alan Burch, Stuart Easey, Matt Rose and Jordan Healey all scored to fire St James an imperious five points clear at the top.
Promotion to the top flight is looking a safe bet for the village side.
Down in Division Three, Fleet were handed a 3-1 home reverse by high-flying River Lane.
Damen Hardy scored for Fleet, who more than made a game of it, but River Lane did ultimately prove too strong as they gained the win through Jack Moy, Joe Sadler and James Joyce.
