Pinchbeck school’s volleyball success

Young volleyball players from a village primary school finished third place in a county competition.
The B team from Pinchbeck East Primary School took part in the county volleyball finals after winning a Spalding final in which they played against the school’s A team.
School PE teacher Sally Robinson said: “We played seven games and just lost out in our first game 19-16 to Osgoodby School. We won the second game against Denton Primary but then took a bit of a knock and lost the next two games.
“The team had lost their confidence but after a team talk they transformed their play and went on to win the next three games convincingly.
“The winning team is the team with the most points scored in all games not the number of wins. So winning convincingly in our last three matches meant we pulled themselves up the order and managed to finish in third place which we were really pleased with after a difficult start.
“The games we lost were close so we did not miss out on too many points.
“I was really proud of the team’s determination to finish so strongly.”
This is the fourth time in five years that Pinchbeck East have qualified for the county finals and have won it twice.
