Pinchbeck Boxing Day feast to ease loneliness

A volunteer is putting on a free festive meal for the community on Boxing Day.

Vanessa Browning’s event runs from noon to 4.30pm at Pinchbeck Baptist Church as part of the Community Mind Matters initiative.

She hopes it could help people who would otherwise be lonely this Christmas.

Vanessa, who runs a number of community groups including those encouraging people with mental health issues to meet up, is looking forward to welcoming people to the Boxing Day lunch.

Vanessa said: “Anyone can attend.

“Some people may not see any others at Christmas so this meal is particularly aimed at them.

“We don’t want people to be lonely and we hope they come along, meet other people and enjoy a lovely meal.”

Vanessa is also helping to create several Christmas hampers to help provide extra cheer for vulnerable people.

“It’s all about spreading Christmas cheer,” she said. “We’re looking to send the hampers out and looking forward to the meal on Boxing Day.

If you would like more information on the meal, or you wish to attend you can contact Vanessa on 07534 609122.
