Picture this competition at Holbeach cemetery

The latest venture by Holbeach Cemetery Chapels Trust to engage the local community in discovering and exploring an important heritage site is a photography competition.

The theme is “Holbeach Cemetery – the chapels and their environment” and entry is free.

There are three age groups – 5-11 years; 12-17 years; 18 years and over.
The winner of each category will receive a 24in x 16in (or nearest equivalent) canvas wrap of their winning image, among other prizes.

Everyone who enters will be awarded a certificate and the opportunity to have their work displayed on Saturday, April 22, the next open day at the chapels.

A spokesman for the trust said: “Having been awarded significant funding from Heritage Lottery, the trustees are determined to offer as wide a range of activities as possible.
“All age groups are catered for, from cemetery trails to workshops; exhibitions and even a concert on Midsummer Day; and opportunities to volunteer with the Graveyard Research Group or the textile project led by Fiona Gurney.”
