Peg one proves a winner for angling ace Meekins

Nick Meekins stormed to victory in the latest Civil Service Seniors gathering at the Decoy Lakes complex at Whittlesey.

Fishing on Damson Lake, Meekins made excellent use of the prolific peg one and romped home with 132lb of carp up to 11lb to his flavoured pellets.

Jon Bartlett was second again, with 108lb of smaller carp to sweetcorn, while Alan Chambers was not far behind with 96lb to banded 6mm hard pellets, caught at the end of his keepnet.

  • Outside of the top trio, Steve Borrett came in fourth with 87lb – which was caught mainly on paste.

Tydd Gote Angling Club members have been putting the hours in on the bank on their stretch of the North Level in preparation for the new season.

Platforms have been repaired, steps cut and weed cutting and treatment has begun.

In further good news, the club annual and day tickets have been frozen at last year’s prices, with books expected in the usual outlets soon.
