PDFL round-up: Treacher double fires Long Sutton into last 16 of county cup

Tommy Treacher helped himself to a brace as Long Sutton saw off Coningsby 3-2 in the Lincs Junior Cup on Saturday.

Matty Oliver was also on-target for the Magpies at London Road, as they joined Moulton Harrox in round three.

Sutton’s reward for the home success is a trip to Sutton Rovers in the next round on December 2, while Harrox are at home to Ruston Sports.

However, both Tydd St Mary and Crowland Town saw their respective bids for county glory ended.

Tydd suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Crowle Town Colts, while Crowland crashed 5-0 at Wyberton.

Sutton Bridge United slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Sawtry in the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division.

Ben Partridge was on the mark for Bridge, who led 1-0 at the break, but the hosts hit back to demote Bridge to seventh in the table.

Also beaten in the top flight were Holbeach United Reserves, who went down 6-2 at Thorney.

In Division One, Moulton Harrox Reserves kept their unbeaten start to the season going with a 2-1 home win over Stamford Belvedere.

Ainsley Johnson stepped up his return from injury with one of the goals, while Tom Panton also bagged.

In the PFA Challenge Cup, Spalding United Reserves edged to a 3-2 win over Stamford Lions Reserves. But Spalding Town suffered a 5-2 beating at Rippingale and Folkingham, despite strikes from Robbie Cundy and Matt Rose.

The most entertaining game of the day saw Whaplode Drove draw 5-5 at Oundle Town Reserves in Division Three. Joe Strickland grabbed a hat-trick for Drove, while Lee Jackson and Danny Firth also netted to keep their unbeaten start to the season intact.

In the same division, Holbeach Bank suffered a 1-0 home defeat against Thorpe Wood Rangers.

In Division Four, Long Sutton Athletic Reserves were 5-1 winners at Ramsey Reserves thanks to a Shane Millar treble and a Steve Robinson double. Tydd Reserves also drew 3-3 at Parkside, while

Holbeach United A were handed a 5-0 home reverse by Eunice Huntingdon.

In Division Five, goals from Mario Vaz (2), Ryan Howard, Helder Lourenco, Jack Semmence and Craig Weightman gave Spalding United A a 6-2 win at FC Peterborough A.
