PDFL round-up: Title-chasing Moulton Harrox slip to rare defeat at Whittlesey

Moulton Harrox suffered only their second ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division loss of the season on Saturday as they went down 2-1 at Whittlesey Athletic.

First-half strikes from Kevin Gilbert and Ricky Hailstone put the hosts in command, but Andy Law hit back for Harrox in the second period to set up a tense finale.

Anthony Jackson and Ian Bradbury both saw red as both teams were reduced to ten men, but Harrox couldn’t find a leveller.

The loss sees Nigel Steadman’s side fall to third ahead of this Saturday’s trip to second-placed Stamford Lions.

Also in the top tier, Sutton Bridge United were 2-0 winners at Langtoft United thanks to second-half goals from Sam Cooper and Matt Eaton at Manor Way.

Down in Division One, Moulton Harrox Reserves are five points clear at the top after James Thorold’s goal secured them a 1-0 home win over Oundle Town.

Third-placed Long Sutton Athletic went down 1-0 at Wittering Harriers to fall 11 points off the pace.

They are just two points clear of Tydd St Mary in fourth after they won 3-1 at Stamford Belvedere.

Edwin Pentney (2) and goal machine Jake Clitheroe bagged for the Saints.

In Division Two, Ash Wilson (2) and Tyler Wright netted as Spalding Town defeated Whittlesey Reserves 3-1.

At the same level, Spalding United Reserves lost 7-0 at home to FC Parson Drove as ex-Long Sutton strike Matty Cawthorn bagged a treble.

Holbeach United A lost 2-1 at Ramsey Reserves with Jordan Clow scoring, while Tydd St Mary Reserves lost 3-0 at home to Huntingdon Rovers.
