PDFL round-up: Moulton Harrox back on track after battling Netherton victory

Moulton Harrox got themselves back to winning ways in the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division with a battling win at perennial rivals Netherton United on Saturday.

After suffering successive defeats, goals from Ian Bradbury and Jonny Clay earned Bobby Patterson and Tim Cole’s side a 2-1 triumph at The Grange.

Andrew Irvine returned fire for a Netherton side that aren’t looking quite as competitive this season, but Harrox held firm to move up to sixth in the table.

Staying in the top tier, Holbeach United Reserves are one point better off than Moulton after a battling 0-0 home draw with title hopefuls Uppingham Town.

Crowland Town are hot on their heels in seventh after a 2-2 draw at Leverington Sports thanks to goals from Danny Firth and Giuliano Staffieri.

However, Long Sutton Athletic are second-from-bottom after a 7-1 battering at Oakham United. Ryan Brothwell got their consolation.

In Division One, Tydd were on fantastic form as Dale Parnell scored four times in a 7-1 success at Eunice Huntingdon.

Bradley Easey, Matt Eaton and Timmy Magnus rounded off the rout at Sapley Park Playing Fields as Tydd went third.

At the other end of the table, Pinchbeck United Reserves’ troubles continued with a 3-1 reverse at Deeping Rangers Reserves.

Down In Division Two, meanwhile, Long Sutton Reserves are still looking for a first win after going down 1-0 at fellow strugglers Parkside.

In Division Three, Tydd Reserves fell to sixth after a 3-2 home defeat against Leverington Sports Reserves. Ben Gibbons and Jamie Steward grabbed the goals for the hosts.

Perhaps the shock result of the week saw previously flawless Division Four leaders Sutton Bridge United battered 7-1 at Whittlesey Athletic A. Mark Garner got the consolation for Bridge, who stay top.

Long Sutton A lost 4-1 at Deeping United Reserves in the same division despite Scott Pemberton’s strike.
