Pat sets the pace in Spalding Golf Club’s Groom Shield with level par round

Pat West won the second round of Spalding Golf Club’s Groom Shield as she saw off 20 other qualifiers in the bogey competition.

Ladies’ section ace West won with a level par round at the Surfleet course, edging Jackie Bailey-Scott (-2) into second.
Tracy Siddle, also scoring -2, was third.

The third round was played yesterday (result not known as we went to press).

  • Paula Brown took the honours at Spalding’s Winter Stableford competition with 36 points.

On a cool, but dry, day Jean Harvey (33pts) and Chris Vickers (33) took second and third respectively.

  • The Spalding ladies’ section AGM was held on October 5, with all officers reflecting on another excellent year.

New lady captain, Hannah Thorold took over and will be supported by Theresa Starbuck. Elizabeth Holbrook, on completion of her three year term as President, received a gift from the three lady captains who served with her.

The new lady President is Jean White, who will now serve for two years.
