Parts of South Holland without running water

Large areas of South Holland, particularly around Holbeach, are experiencing issues with water (Tuesday, May 26) as temperatures in the area reached 33 degrees Celsius.

Anglia Water stated on its website that the issue was cantered on Holbeach and involved a faulty pump.

As of 6pm, Anglian Water’s website stated: “We’re really sorry but some customers in Holbeach may have either very low water pressure or no water at all.

“This is being caused by a problem with one of our pumps that push water around the network.

“Based on the latest information available, we’re aiming to have everything back to normal by 3am on May 27.”

Many residents who were without water previously have stated on social media that the supply is back on.

Businesses had announced they were closing due to the lack of water, including The Crown in Holbeach, but not long after it edited the post to say it was remaining open as the water supply had returned.

The Voice has contacted Anglian Water for a response.

The company has issued a apology on its social media channels for its website being down just as the issue in Holbeach was being reported.

“We’re sorry but we’re having technical issues with our tool for reporting and tracking issues online,” the statement says. “We’re working hard to fix the problem and and get it back up and running as soon as we can.”

The Met Office say today is now officially the hottest day in May on record with a temperature of 35.9 recorded in London.

A spokesman said: “This heat would be exceptional in the UK even in mid summer, let alone in May.”
