Marcus Parry took his tally for the season to an impressive 30 as Spalding Town beat ChromaSport PDFL Division Two strugglers Sawtry Reserves 3-0 at the Castle on Saturday.
Town came into the clash as heavy favourites against a side in the bottom two, but low on morale after last week’s shock cup loss to Tydd St Mary.
They started well, with Gavin Bailey, Cymon Lambe and Parry all producing good saves from the keeper.
The deadlock was eventually broken when Parry was pulled down inside the box by a defender – resulting in a penalty being awarded.
The penalty was dispatched by Scott Burrell, leaving the keeper rooted to the spot and giving Town a 1-0 lead at half time.
Spalding scored again early in the second half when Josh Faulkner volleyed in from inside the box from James Thorold’s cross.
Town continued to control the game and the victory was secured when the tenacious Parry rounded the goalkeeper and slotted the ball into the net to take his tally to 30 goals for the season.
Town manager Chris Page missed the match through illness and the squad would like to wish him all the best in his recovery.
