Despite having a man sent off while scoring themselves, Moulton Harrox wrapped up the ChromaSport Peterborough and District Football League Premier Division title on Saturday.
Needing just a point to wrap up the title Moulton fell behind to Whittlesey Athletic and a Jack Carter goal, in the first half at Broad Lane.
Then came the 65th minute controversy, Tom Panton was on hand to get his side back level, but was surprised to see the linesman’s flag being raised for offside.
Moulton’s Danny Maddison was ruled by the referee to have not been interfering with play, but was also shown a straight red card for using foul and abusive language to the linesman during that incident.
Even a man down, Moulton created several chances themselves to get all three point. But one was enough to seal the title with two games remaining having lost just two all season.
Elsewhere Tydd St Mary beat Sutton Bridge United 5-3.
The sides shared seven goals in the first half alone with Tydd adding to their lead in the second half.
Joe Reed scored twice for Tydd alongside goals from Nick Ainslie, Jason Bradshaw and Alan Burch.
Matthew Eaton at the double and Joseph Sutton for Sutton Bridge.
In Division One, Crowland Town hit seven of the best against basement side Oakham United Reserves.
Corban Oldham (2), Matthew Smith, Ashley Pratt and Juliano Resta earned them a 7-1 win.
Spalding Athletic battled back from 1-0 down to lead Rippingale and Folkingham 2-1 in Division Two thanks to goals from Jordan Nicholls and Mario Vaz.
However a last minute equaliser rescued the home side a point.
Also in that division, Whaplode Drove were on the wrong end of a 14-3 thrashing at Premiair FC, with both Lee Calitri and Benjamin Calvo Otterwell both scoring hat-tricks after coming on as substitutes.
Despite Lewis Day’s goal in Division Four, Tydd FC Reserves fell to a 2-1 defeat to Orton Rangers.
