Pair join Memory Walk for Uncle Ace

Two Spalding walkers joined hundreds stepping out in support of a world without dementia.
Alan Owen and Melanie Harper took part in the Memory Walk in Peterborough organised by the Alzheimer’s Society.
The pair chose to take part after Alan’s uncle died from the disease.
He said: “My uncle Ace sadly passed away last year.
“He’s from the USA so we thought we would do something over here.
“I think people are becoming more and more aware of dementia, but I think there’s a lack of understanding.
“It’s great this walk is raising so much awareness and also makes money for research into how we can help people with this terrible dementia and hopefully cure it.”
This year’s Memory Walk in Peterborough attracted around 1,000 people – three times as many as last year.
Walkers completed either a 2km or 10km course after warming up with a Zumba routine.
It is hoped the walk will raise more than £48,000 to fund services as well as research into better treatments and an eventual cure for dementia.
