Overnight closure dates for bridge

Overnight closure dates have been announced as part of the works being carried out at the A17 Cross Keys Swing Bridge.

Work to repaint the structure started this week and is due to last until July 1.
But alongside the traffic light-controlled access there will also be overnight closures for 12 nights.
It will shut from 7pm to 7am and traffic will be diverted via Wisbech.
The bridge will close overnight on May 3, 4, 5, 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 23, 24 and 25.
“The overnight closures are a vital part of our minimising the amount of disruption for road users in the area,” said Coun Richard Davies, executive member for highways.
“By getting this aspect of the maintenance works out of the way by working through the night, we can ensure that the least amount of traffic is directly affected.
“We want to thank everyone for their continuing patience in this matter while the vital works are happening.”
The bridge, which was first opened in 1897, will be fully open during Bank Holidays when work will be suspended to help the flow of traffic while there’s not work going on at the site.
