Over 50 police officers raid cannabis farm near Spalding

Three people have been arrested after over 1,200 cannabis plants were discovered in sheds and caravans between Spalding and Cowbit.

Over 50 police officers were part of the raid on the site on Evergreen Close.

Detective Inspector Mel Rooke, from Boston and South Holland CID said: “A well-orchestrated warrant was executed yesterday (Thursday April 18), which called on help from over 50 officers from a number of our specialist units and resources, including detectives, a drug expert witness, tactical support team, crime scene investigators, intelligence, response team, drone pilot and dog unit.

“The amount of teams and resources that we are prepared to dedicate towards crimes like this, which we know blight communities, shows how committed we are to putting a stop to this type of criminality.”

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police, said: “Three men aged 32, 33, and 35 years old respectively, have been arrested on suspicion of cultivating a class B controlled drug.

“In addition to cannabis, there have been a number of vehicles seized for further examination. A generator has also been recovered along with a sum of cash. All of these items will be looked at as part of this inquiry to establish whether any further offences have been committed.

“The grow has been dismantled and work is ongoing to progress investigations.

“We would encourage people to continue providing intelligence either through the local Neighbourhood Policing Team or via CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111 or online.”
