Open day proves mostly plain sailing

Welland Yacht Club welcomed a good number of visitors on Sunday for their annual Open Day to have a go at sailing.

The weather was kind as the sun shone all day and the wind arrived in ideal conditions. It was a little strong at times but there was only one capsize and swim reported – testament to the helm’s abilities.
Visitors enjoyed multiple ride outs in a variety of dinghies and were able to enjoy the clubhouse grounds and refreshments.
A number of new members have joined and the club look forward to welcoming them to enjoy all the amenities on hand and training available.
Anyone wishing to give sailing a go will be made welcome at the club in River Bank, off Cradge Bank, on a Sunday or visit www.wellandyachtclub.co.uk for more details.
