Online campaign gets couple housed

A homeless couple are in accommodation following a successful appeal launched by a Spalding woman and her daughter.

At the end of October, Stephanie Lamont and her daughter Clementine Cousins started an appeal to help house Jason and Jane Paul by Christmas.

She is now celebrating after some large cash donations allowed her to meet her goal.

Donations pledged online included a £1,000 sum and £4,000 from an anonymous donor.

Stephanie said the process took just ten days.

“They’re very happy to have somewhere they can call home now,” She said. “The most important thing is they can now get the medication they need.”

Jason has epilepsy and the couple are now registered with a GP, Stephanie told The Voice.

She initially used the fund to pay two weeks’ accommodation and buy essentials such as towels and pans.

Six months’ rent is now paid, as well as a contribution to utility bills.

Stephanie said that while she is pleased Jason and Jane are now housed, she is concerned there is “a lot more hidden homeless.”

She added: “There are many more homeless people in this country living in tents or worse and we would like you to think of them, especially as the weather gets colder.”

Stephanie, who said she was guided by faith, added: “Without God, none of this would have been possible.”
