Olympic effort for care home residents to enjoy

Residents at a Spalding care home have been enjoying their own Oomph-Lympics.

Named after activity provider Oomph Wellness, the team at St John’s Care Home made flags and a banner to set the scene before holding games and awarding medals.

There was even a torch-lighting ceremony and a video was made for the home’s Facebook page so families could see their loved-ones.

Games included chair-based synchronised swimming, carpet bowls and volleyball along with an open event of their choice.

Activity co-ordinators from Country Court, which runs St John’s, have been training with activity provider Oomph Wellness to run the events.

“We had a fantastic week of sporting activities,” said customer relations manager Oliver Parker.

“The residents have all be very keen to get involved and join in. The synchronised swimming produced much hilarity. It’s been great to see people having fun and hearing so much laughter in our home.”
St John’s also held a closing ceremony.
