Odd socks for Anti-Bullying Week

Spalding’s Ayscoughfee Hall School has been taking part in Anti-Bullying Week, an annual UK event raise awareness of bullying and to highlight ways of responding to it.

The week started off with a whole school assembly on the theme of ‘Reach Out’.

The children discussed what bullying is and what can be done do to stamp it out, for example working as a team and supporting each other with kind words and kind deeds.

The school’s Kindness Ambassadors introduced the new ‘kindness’ nomination boxes and the school captains told the children about the Anti-Bullying Poster Competition Ayscoughfee is taking part in.

Everyone wore odd socks for the day to highlight the message “All Different…All Equal”, celebrating individuality and uniqueness.

During the week the children will continue to think about anti-bullying as they take part in many planned activities in school.

Headteacher Teresa Wright said: “We are very excited to be involved in Anti-Bullying Week.

“The activities the children take part in this week support the school’s key value to encourage kind behaviour from our children.

“Kindness has a real impact on children’s social and emotional wellbeing and has proven to reduce bullying in schools.”
