Oar-some Archie and Lucy pick up medals at Peterborough Junior Rowing Championships

Boston Rowing Club had two of its junior scullers compete and place for medals at this year’s Peterborough Junior Championships on Saturday.

The racing consisted of 1,000m four-lane races, where the young rowers first had to complete a time trial on the course which seeded them into groups.

Only the rowers from the time trial that earned a place in the final A group could win a medal and both Boston rowers put very strong times in to be in with a chance of securing one.

The conditions were very challenging with a strong wind blowing straight down the course whipping up some choppy conditions.

The club’s youngest competitor for the weekend was Archie Pattinson, from Spalding, who achieved a strong third place finish in the J13 single sculls category.

Representing the young women was Lucy Walker, who put in a tremendous effort and won a thirrd place finish in her closely contested WJ15 single sculls race.

  • Boston Rowing Club has a growing junior squad, and the club looks forward to more successful events this year.
