No stopping Spalding Indoor Bowls Club pair as England win Home International Series

Spalding Indoor Bowls Club’s Graham Smith and Matt Whyers won all three of their matches to help England clinch the Home International Series crown at Llanelli.

The pair formed a front end for Swale IBC’s Perry Martin and skip Rob Paxton, from Taunton Deane.

First up for England were hosts Wales – and the visitors made light work of things, with Smith and Whyers winning 27-15 in an overall victory of 150-86.

Next up was Ireland and England again made it look easy, taking the match by 132 shots to 107.

Smith and Whyers recorded a 22-17 success in that one.

With Scotland winning both their opening fixtures, the clash between the sides on the final day was a winner-takes-all battle.

England made a good start and posted a 13-1 score after just one end across all rinks.

They remained in front throughout, with a final score of 122-100.

Whyers and Smith won once again, this time 26-19.
