Action is being urged to prevent a pedestrian potentially being killed on a busy Spalding road.

Subsidence caused a footpath in Barrier Bank to be closed by Lincolnshire Councty Council in 2013.
More than two years later the council is warning that no resolution is currently available.

South Holland district councillor Graham Dark and Roger Perkins, a resident of nearby Fen End Lane, say the situation is dangerous, with pedestrians being forced to walk in the carriageway.
The very least that Coun Dark wants to see is a temporary extension of a 30mph speed limit to cover the length of the closed footpath.

Maxine Stukins, senior highways officer at Lincolnshire County Council, said at the time of the closure: “Over the next few months we’ll look at what options are available to us to either repair the path or replace it entirely.”
This week she said: “We’ve considered all available options to repair the footpath, but these are not viable due to current legal and financial constraints facing the council.”

Coun Dark said: “People are having to walk in the road while you’ve got vehicles going in both directions at 60mph.”
He added: “I would have thought safety was the most important thing to look at.”
