No internet as cabinet is hit

Residents around Gosberton Clough have been left with no internet after an Openreach cabinet was hit by a van.

The cabinet, on the junction of Beck Bank and Swale Bank, was completely removed from its base as a result of the collision.
Residents in the area have been told it could be weeks before repairs are complete.
“We are doing our best to repair the damage and get around 30 homes connected to broadband.
“There’s quite a lot of work to do, which includes replacing damaged cables and batteries, as well as power work. We also need to put some temporary traffic lights in place to keep our engineers safe as they work on the side of a 60mph road. We are doing everything we can to get everything under way this week and will update as soon as we know more,” said a spokesman for Openreach.
One nearby resident, who declined to be named, works from home and said the disruption would cause problems for many.
“It is a huge issue not having internet, as I work from home,” he said.
DPD was contacted for comment but had not replied at the time of going to press.
There were no reported injuries as a result of the crash.
